CHERISH Program
The CHERISH Program at Kindering Center ~
CHildren
Encouraged by Relationships In Secure
Homes
We cherish our children, and Kindering Center
understands that foster children are particularly vulnerable and may
need some special help. Kindering Center provides an array of
services specially designed to meet the needs of foster children and
their foster parents or relative caregivers through our CHERISH
program. These may include:
-
A complete developmental evaluation for children
age 0-3 including a second assessment to identify any emotional
or adjustment issues
-
A therapeutic home-visiting program
-
Stepping Stones preschool class for children age
18-30 months
-
A bi-monthly discussion group for Kindering
Center foster parents and relative caregivers of children age
0-6 (1st & 3rd Tuesdays, 6:30-8pm, childcare provided)
-
Individual consultation with
a staff social worker
Depending on the child's need,
CHERISH provides prevention and intervention services, as well as
family support services. Staff can access free resources at
Eastside Baby Corner and problem-solve around common issues of
development, distress, behavior, visiting with birth families and
others.
Through our CHERISH program, Kindering Center can
help your child achieve their fullest potential and help support you
both as you discover each other and journey through the child
welfare system. As a foster parent or kinship caregiver, you play
an essential role in the life of the child in your home. Kindering
Center is privileged to walk alongside as you “cherish” your child!
